Terms of service
The ground rules for using our site. Plain English where we can manage it.
Last updated October 18, 2026
These terms apply to metromystery.com (the "site"), operated by Metro Mystery LLC, a Texas company ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. Our games on other domains and on Steam may have their own terms.
Using the site
You can browse the site and play Byte Patrol for free, for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don't:
- try to break, overload, probe or get around the security of the site or its services;
- use bots, scripts or modified clients to submit scores or scrape the site;
- use the site to break the law or to harass anyone.
Scoreboard names and scores
If you submit a score, you're responsible for the name you choose. No offensive, hateful or impersonating names, and nothing personal like real addresses or phone numbers. We can edit or remove any name or score, reset the scoreboard, or block submissions at any time, for any reason, including suspected cheating. By submitting a name and score you let us display them publicly on the site.
Emails
If you sign up for launch emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. See the privacy policy for how we handle your email address.
Our stuff
The site, our games, art, logos, music, text and code belong to Metro Mystery LLC or our licensors. "Metro Mystery", "Dual Fuse", "Deckthello", "LetterMatrix", "Word Dropper" and "Gather Games Online" are names we use for our studio and games. You can use materials from our press kit for coverage of our games. Anything else needs our written permission.
Links to other sites
The site links to our games on other domains, to Steam and to other services. We're not responsible for sites we don't control, and their own terms and policies apply.
No warranty
The site and Byte Patrol are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the site or the scoreboard will always be available, error-free or that scores will be kept forever.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Metro Mystery LLC won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
